Aaron Johnson

Consultant Solicitor & TEP

I believe legal planning should feel straightforward, not stressful. That's why I handle everything personally — from our first conversation through to the final signature. No hand-offs, no jargon, no surprises. I'm a full member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP), which means I bring specialist expertise in inheritance tax, trusts, and estate planning. But I explain everything in plain English, because that's what you deserve. Every matter is on a fixed fee. You'll always know what you're paying before you commit. And if something takes longer than expected, that's my responsibility — not yours.

A Will That Reflects Exactly What You Want

A Will is the only way to make sure your assets go to the people you choose. Without one, strict legal rules decide who inherits — and the results often aren't what you'd have wanted.

Aaron drafts your Will personally, taking the time to understand your family situation, your wishes, and any concerns you might have. Everything is explained in plain English, so you'll know exactly what your Will says and why.

The whole process typically takes 2-3 weeks from your first conversation to a signed document. Your fee is fixed at the outset — if anything takes longer than expected, that's Aaron's responsibility, not yours.

Who Is This For?

  • Individuals who don't currently have a Will
  • Anyone whose circumstances have changed (marriage, children, divorce, new property)
  • People with straightforward estates who want professional peace of mind
  • Anyone who wants to appoint guardians for children under 18

What's Included in Your Fixed Fee

  • A thorough initial consultation (at home, in person, or by video — whatever suits you)
  • Professional drafting of your Will by Aaron personally
  • A review meeting to walk through every clause together
  • Supervised signing and witnessing to ensure your Will is legally valid
  • Guidance on storing your Will safely

What's Not Included (Available If You Need Them)

Our fixed fee covers a straightforward single Will. If your situation involves any of the following, Aaron will discuss these with you and agree a separate fixed fee before any additional work begins:

  • Letter of Wishes — a supplementary document guiding your executors on personal items, funeral wishes, or the reasons behind your decisions (quoted separately)
  • Statement Excluding a Beneficiary — a formal record of why you have chosen not to include someone, helping to protect your Will from challenge (quoted separately)
  • Solicitor Capacity Assessment — if there are any concerns about mental capacity, Aaron can carry out a formal assessment to protect the validity of your Will (quoted separately)
  • Liaising with third parties — if Aaron needs to work with your financial adviser, accountant, or capacity assessor to ensure your Will aligns with your wider planning (quoted separately)
  • Tax advice (Inheritance Tax planning) — if your estate may be liable for IHT, Aaron can advise on strategies or refer you to the Bespoke Estate & Tax Planning service (quoted separately)
  • Second or additional properties — if your estate includes more than one property, additional drafting may be required (quoted separately)
  • Complex assets — business interests, commercial properties, or overseas assets may require a Trust Will for proper protection (see Trust Wills service)
  • Review of property deeds — if Aaron needs to check how your property is held (e.g., Joint Tenants vs Tenants in Common) (quoted separately)
  • Incorporation of a trust — if you need asset protection, care fee planning, or control over how beneficiaries receive their inheritance, a Trust Will may be more suitable (see Trust Wills service)

Your situation may be entirely straightforward and not require any of these. If it does, Aaron will explain your options clearly during the consultation and you'll always know the cost before any work begins.

What Happens If You Don't Act?

Without a Will, the Rules of Intestacy decide who inherits your estate. Your partner may not receive everything — and if you're unmarried, they receive nothing at all. Children from previous relationships, stepchildren, and close friends are also excluded under intestacy. A professionally drafted Will is the only way to make sure the right people are looked after.

Why Choose Safe Harbour?

  • Aaron personally handles your matter from start to finish — your Will is never delegated to a junior or paralegal
  • Fixed fees confirmed before we begin — no hourly rates, no surprises
  • Home visits available across Bridlington and East Yorkshire — Aaron comes to you
  • SRA-regulated with full professional indemnity insurance
  • Online Will services can't assess your tax position, flag risks you haven't considered, or ensure your Will works with your other legal documents. Aaron provides the expertise that templates can't.

You May Also Need

  • Trust Wills — if you want to protect your assets from care fees, remarriage risk, or a beneficiary's divorce, a Trust Will provides a stronger layer of protection than a standard Will
  • Mirror Wills — if you and your partner share similar wishes, Mirror Wills provide coordinated protection for both of you at a reduced fee (save £150 vs two Single Wills)
  • Complete LPA Protection — a Will only takes effect after death. LPAs protect you during your lifetime, ensuring someone you trust can manage your finances and health decisions if you lose capacity
